Turkey burgers are a great lean meat alternative to beef burgers, and they can be every bit as flavorful. I love how onions can absorb so much flavor when then caramelize. Adding some balsamic to the caramelizing onions adds even more flavor. I usually make fries to go along with these.
Ingredients:
2 potato buns
2 1/4-pound ground turkey patties
1 large white onion, thinly sliced
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
4 slices Sartori Montemore
4 tablespoons barbecue sauce
salt and pepper
Preparation:
1. Place onions and balsamic vinegar in a pan and cover with a lid. Heat to a boil, then turn down to medium-low to simmer for about 20 minutes until the vast majority of the vinegar has been absorbed and onions are caramelized.
2. Season ground turkey patties with salt and pepper.
3. Head grill to medium heat. Grill patties for 3-4 minutes per side.
4. Add cheese slices and grill for another minute or so until cheese is melting.
5. Place burgers on buns and top with caramelized onions and barbecue sauce.
