I grew up eating this snack and would get excited when my mom would make it. When I went off to college, this was something my mom would make when she knew I was coming home. It has that "taste of home" essence to it. It wasn't until this past week that I decided that I wanted to make it for a get together with my friends that I learned it was the recipe off the side of the Rice Chex box! This recipe is simple, easy and a big crowd pleaser! To make this gluten free, omit the wheat chex, use a GF brand of Worcestershire sauce, and be sure the nut blend you use is GF.
Ingredients:
4 cups Rice Chex
4 cups Corn Chex
1 cup Wheat Chex
2 cups mixed nuts
1 1/2 cups pretzels
1 1/2 sticks butter
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
2. In a roasting pan, combine rice, corn and wheat chex, pretzels and nuts. Mix.
3. Melt butter in the microwave. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder and onion powder.
4. Pour sauce over chex mix and stir well.
5. Cover. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
6. Let cool in roasting pan, stirring occasionally. Store in airtight container.
