I love grilled cheeses. My dad brings home sample grilled cheese spreads, which leads to me basically eating grilled cheese for a week until the spread is sadly gone. When I don't have grilled cheese spread, I use Sartori Montamore. The creamy melty-ness of that cheese is fantastic for a grilled cheese. I used a local farm-made jam, but any fruit jam works well. I'm not the biggest fan of ham, but I've made this grilled cheese many times with ham for friends and family, who all say it is great with ham!
Ingredients:
2 pieces sandwich bread
Several thing slices Sartori Montamore cheese, at room temperature
2-3 tablespoons Strawberry - Rhubarb Jam
1/2 apple, cut into thin slices
2 slices deli ham (optional)
1/2 tablespoon butter
GF* - To make this gluten free, use gluten free bread.
Preparation:
1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
2. Spread jam on one piece of bread.
3. Place both pieces of bread in skillet. Put slices on cheese on non-jam slice of bread.
4. Allow cheese to melt slightly. Add deli ham slices on top of cheese.
5. Place apple slices on top of ham. Flip jam slice of bread on top of apples and make a sandwich.
6. Cook until bread is toasted and cheese melted.
